We remember quiet evenings when someone in the house had a stomach ache — a child curled up, uncomfortable, or a loved one tossing and turning with digestive discomfort. Instead of reaching straight for over-the-counter options, we turned to what our mothers and grandmothers always reached for: castor oil.

We’d gently warm the oil in our hands, massage it onto the abdomen, and then place a castor oil pack over the area (we still use one we found on Amazon — nothing fancy, just something that works). The room would fill with the earthy scent of the oil as we tucked them in and let the oil do its work through the night. By morning, they’d often wake feeling more at ease, more relaxed. It became our quiet ritual of comfort — no fuss, just care.

Later, when we began making our Comfrey Body Ache Salve, we naturally brought castor oil into that part of our care as well. We found that applying a layer of 100% pure castor oil over the salve helped it absorb even deeper into the skin. It created a kind of synergy — the herbs working together with the oil to support relaxation and ease in the body after long days or sore moments.
